It’s essential for any YA or crime bookshelf. If you can suspend your disbelief in regards to the premise, you’ll be rewarded above and beyond. I recommend The Naturals series to anyone and everyone if given the chance. This is exactly how a series should be: consistently high quality. And the serial killer case carries over into the series closer, Bad Blood, which is mind-blowing brilliant. It must’ve been a nightmare to research and organise, because it involves the Fibonacci sequence. Killer Instinct is definitely an improvement, and I was well and truly hooked.īut the series really shows its genius in Book 3, All In. Rated: Moderate there really isn’t much language in it there’s really no sexual content it’s all about the violence and the description of what the serial killer does to maim victims, as well as non-detailed and brief references to a character’s childhood abuse.NOTE: I originally posted this at Speculative Chic. The Naturals is a really entertaining book that lives up to the blurb on the cover (imagine that!): Ally Carter calls it “‘Criminal Minds’ for the YA world.” It has all the right elements but isn’t as intense or gory as a similar book for adults would likely be. But now there’s a serial killer on the loose, and it may hit a little close to home. She figures she might as well make the move to the house near Quantico where these teens live and are trained if she’s going to be abnormal, best to be with others who are like her.Ĭassie and the other teens don’t officially consult on current crimes they either train or work on cold cases. Now, because her mom taught her the “tricks of the trade” for reading people, she’s being recruited to join a small group of teens with similar “Natural” gifts to help the FBI solve crimes.
Since the murder of her mom five years ago, the teen has lived with her military dad’s relatives, never feeling like she quite fit in. Growing up with her mom, who performed as a psychic, she moved around a lot.
